The operation of addition on N can be defined as follows:
(i) n+1=n* for every n∈ N
(ii) n+m*=(n+m)* wherever n+m is defined
This can be grasped be recollecting that 4+5 = (4+4) +1 = 9. The basic laws of addition composition are:
